RAIPUR: Three people were killed while six others suffered injuries, including three critically wounded, in a road accident when the vehicle carrying people for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s programme in Raipur, collided with a truck in Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh on early Friday morning. The bus carrying about 40 people was coming from Ambikapur.
According to preliminary information, those killed were BJP workers and a driver. The bus was full of party workers.
Extending condolence, chief minister Bhupesh Baghel tweeted that the bus coming from Ambikapur to Raipur met with an accident claiming lives. Tagging PMO India, Baghel prayed for the well-being of those injured.
The accident took place around 4-5am in the morning and the deceased were identified as Sajjan, Roopdev and Akram Raza. As it was raining heavily, the rescue took time and the injured were rushed to hospital in Bilaspur.
Police are investigating the matter and recording statements of the injured. It is suspected that the driver might have napped out while driving in the wee hours.
Chief minister Baghel announced a relief compensation of Rs 4 lakh each to the kin of the deceased.

BJP national vice-president and former Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh also tweeted extending condolence for a peaceful transition of the departed souls.
