Mahindra Thar.e: New platform
Mahindra has confirmed that its upcoming Thar.e will be based on its new platform called the INGLO-P1 platform, offering increased ground clearance and best off-road capability. The wheelbase of the Thar.e will range from 2,775 mm – 2,975 mm to accommodate the extra doors and battery pack.
Mahindra Thar.e: Design
Mahindra Thar.e gets a futuristic design as compared to its existing ICE model. The electric SUV gets squarish LED headlamps with rounded-off corners and a glossy black upright nose. The steel front bumper of the Thar.e gives the EV a rugged look. At the sides, the electric Thar looks elongated with an extra set of doors and gets large alloy wheels with squared-out wheel arches. Similar to the current-gen model, the Mahindra Thar.e gets a spare wheel on the tailgate and squarish LED tail lamps.
Mahindra Thar.e: Cabin
Inside the cabin, the Mahindra Thar.e will have 75 sounds right from opening the door to different drive modes, all being developed by Indian musical composer, A R Rahman, says Mahindra. Moreover, the electric SUV will have a water hose inside that can clean the cabin entirely after off-roading. The interior of the Mahindra Thar.e will have a minimalistic dashboard design, featuring a large touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver display, and a new steering wheel. The company is yet to reveal more details about the upcoming SUV.
Mahindra Thar.e: Powertrain
The electric Thar is likely to employ a bigger battery pack to meet the off-road characteristics. It is expected to come equipped with two motors with a 4WD system, as opposed to its current-gen model. Furthermore, the instant generated torque will also enhance the off-roading capabilities.
Mahindra Thar.e: Expected launch time
The company has not revealed the launch timeline of the Mahindra Thar.e, but as the new electric vehicle plant will start operations by March 2024, we expect the Thar.e to be launched towards later 2024 or early 2025.
