NEW DELHI: India kicked off the two-day G20 summit in the national capital on Saturday, with a galaxy of world leaders gathering at the sprawling Bharat Mandapam for the mega conclave.
The fruitful first day saw a series of developments, including the adoption of the New Delhi leaders’ declaration and the announcement of a India-Middle East-Europe connectivity corridor.
The summit will conclude on September 10 (Sunday) after a packed day in the morning.
Here’s the schedule for the Day 2 of the G20 summit:
8.15am to 9am: The leaders and heads of the delegations will arrive at Rajghat in individual motorcades.
9.00am to 9.20am: The leaders will then lay a wreath at Mahatma Gandhi’s Samadhi. Also, a live performance of Mahatma Gandhi’s favourite devotional songs.
9.20 am: Leaders and Heads of Delegations will then move to Bharat Mandapam’s Leaders’ Lounge.
9.40am to 10.15am: Arrival of leaders and heads of delegation at Bharat Mandapam
10.15am–10.30am: Tree planting ceremony at Bharat Mandapam’s South Plaza
10.30am–12.30pm: The third session of the summit, called ‘One Future’, will take place at the venue, followed by the adoption of the New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration.
What happened on Day 1:
9.30am to 10.30am: The event started with the arrival of leaders and heads of delegations at the summit venue, Bharat Mandapam. Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally welcomed the leaders, including US President Joe Biden
Between 10.30am and 1.30pm: The first session under the theme “One Earth” took place at the Summit Hall at Bharat Mandapam, followed by a working lunch.
Between 1.30pm and 3.30pm: Various bilateral meetings took place.
From 3.30pm to 4.45pm: The second session, ‘One Family, was held in the afternoon.
5.30pm: PM Modi launched the Global Biofuels Alliance.
5.45pm: PM Modi, President Biden, Saudi crown prince Mohammed Bin Salman and EU president Ursula von der Leyen announced the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor
Between 7pm and 8pm: Leaders and heads of delegation arrived for a dinner at Bharat Mandapam hosted by President Droupadu Murmu. The event began with a welcome photo on arrival.
8pm to 9pm: The leaders engaged in a conversation over dinner.
9pm to 9.45pm: Leaders and heads of delegations gathered at the leaders’ lounge at Bharat Mandapam and returned to their hotels.
